Well-rounded, lightweight, and sleek, the Panasonic Lumix S5 meshes capable video and photo capabilities with a portable body design. Featuring a full-frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor, the S5 is distinguished by its UHD 4K60 10-bit internal recording, Dual Native ISO, and wide 14+-stop dynamic range. Beyond video, it caters to a versatile range of stills applications with 7 fps continuous shooting, ISO 100-51200 native range, and even a 96MP High-Res Shot mode. Regardless if working with photo or video, the S5 maintains a quick and accurate 225-area DFD autofocus system with refined subject tracking, as well as 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization to minimize the appearance of camera shake.
In terms of physical design, the S5 borrows elements from the larger S1-series of cameras but has a smaller footprint and lighter weight profile for improved portability. The S5 incorporated a 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a free-angle 3.0" 1.84m-dot touchscreen LCD, and it has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity. Dual SD memory card slots are featured, too, for flexible file storage and the body also has a splash- and dust-sealed design for working in trying conditions.
24.2MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor and Venus Engine
Featuring a full-frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor and an updated Venus Engine, the S5 balances high sensitivity, a wide dynamic range, and speed. The sensor-processor combination enables a useful ISO 100-51200 range, which can be expanded to ISO 50-204800, to suit working in a variety of lighting conditions. For working with fast-moving subjects, the S5 also enables full-res shooting at up to 7 fps with AF-S or 6 fps with AF-C, or up to an impressive 60 fps continuous shooting when using 6K or 4K PHOTO modes.
UHD 4K HDR Video Recording
In addition to stills, the S5 also sports highly capable video recording assets, including full-frame UHD 4K30p internal recording with 4:2:2 10-bit color and UHD 4K60p recording using an APS-C sensor area and 4:2:0 10-bit color. Full HD recording at 60 fps, as well as 4K at 30 fps, is also supported with 8-bit color and no recording time limits. Also, high-speed recording is possible, up to Full HD at 180 fps, and anamorphic recording is also available.

Borrowing from Panasonic's broadcast line of video cameras, Dual Native ISO helps to achieve a balanced combination of low noise and high sensitivity to better suit working in a variety of lighting conditions. Two dedicated circuits are provided for each pixel: a Low ISO circuit provides base sensitivities of ISO 100 for normal use, ISO 640 when V-Log is applied, ISO 400 when HLG is applied, and ISO 200 when Cinelike D2/V2 is applied; a Low Noise circuit provides base sensitivities of ISO 640 for normal use, ISO 4000 when V-Log is applied; ISO 2500 when HLG is applied, and ISO 1250 when Cinelike D2/V2 is applied.

Optimizing your recording for post-production color adjustment, the S5 also features a pair of gamma settings suited to capturing a wide dynamic range. V-Log has been pre-installed on this camera and is used to capture a flat, neutral gamma curve and an equivalent 14+ stops of dynamic range, making it well-suited for grading. Additionally, a High Dynamic Range mode, and Hybrid Log Gamma, can be used to record greater detail in both the shadow and highlight regions of a scene. Additional picture styles are available to provide a more gradable image, such as Cinelike V2 and Cinelike D2, as well as an in-camera LUT to make monitoring easier. Additionally, recording to an optional external recorder is possible, via the HDMI Type D port, and support for an external microphone and headphones are also available via dedicated 3.5mm jacks.
Body Design
● Used in conjunction with other members of the L-Mount Alliance, the L lens mount is a versatile interface with a mount diameter of 51.6mm and a flange distance of 20mm for working with a broad range of optics.
● High-resolution 2.36m-dot OLED EVF offers a clear 0.74x magnification along with a smooth 60 fps or 120 fps changeable refresh rate.
● Rear 3.0" 1.84m-dot LCD is a bright, clear means for live view shooting as well as playback and menu navigation. The screen features a free-angle design to suit working from high, low, and front-facing angles, and its touchscreen design affords intuitive settings control.
● Durable, weather-sealed construction is splash and dust-resistant to accommodate working in harsh weather conditions and trying environments.
● Dual SD memory card slots—one UHS-II-compatible slot, one UHS-I-compatible slot—offer improved flexibility for image storage, allowing you to segregate raw and JPEG files to different cards, save duplicate files to both cards, or simply double your storage space with overflow recording.
● A USB Type-C port allows for fast file transferring as well as high-speed in-camera battery charging. Additionally, an HDMI Type D port benefits video applications, a 2.5mm port can be used with the optional DMW-RS2 Remote Shutter, and 3.5mm microphone and headphone jacks suit advanced audio recording needs.
● DMW-BLK22 rechargeable lithium-ion battery is rated for approximately 440 shots per charge when working with the rear monitor, 470 shots per charge with the EVF, and 1500 shots per charge when Power Save LVF mode is on.
● High-precision shutter mechanism offers a top mechanical speed of 1/8000 sec and a flash sync speed of 1/250 sec.
Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization
Helping to achieve the utmost sharpness when photographing handheld, Dual I.S. 2 combines the S5's 5 stop-rated 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization technology with lens-based 2-axis image stabilization to compensate for a broader range of movement types to render sharper, clearer imagery. Dual I.S. 2 requires the use of compatible Lumix lenses featuring O.I.S. This stabilization system is able to compensate for approximately 6.5 stops of camera shake.
DFD Autofocus System
For accelerated autofocus performance, the DFD (Depth-From-Defocus) technology quickly calculates the distance to subjects and adjusts the focusing position in as little as 0.08 seconds, with sensor and lens communication occurring at rates up to 480 fps. This contrast-detection type focus method benefits both still and video recording modes, as well as subject tracking applications, using Advanced AI Technology, where subject type, color, size, and motion vectors are used to intelligently lock-onto the moving subjects and ensure precise focus. When working with portrait subjects, face, eye, head, body, and animal detection capabilities make it easier to prioritize focusing on specific areas of the subject. The focusing sensitivity and speed can be adjusted to further improve performance with certain subjects. It also features 225 AF areas, which provide excellent control over where the camera will focus. Additionally, supporting working in low-light conditions, a Low Light AF feature enables accurate AF performance down to -6 EV.

Benefitting manual focus operation, focus peaking is available that highlights bright edges of contrast with a colored outline for quickly recognizing your focus point, as well as Touch MF Assist for touch-to-focus operation. Other AF features include an AF Point Scope setting that temporarily magnifies the subject by 3x to 10x for confirmation of the focus position and a custom selectable AF zone for Multi AF / Custom Multi AF.
6K and 4K PHOTO
Utilizing the S5's video recording capabilities, a trio of still shooting modes are available for recording continuous 3:2 or 4:3 8MP stills at a 60 or 30 fps shooting rate or 18MP stills at a 30 fps shooting rate:

● Burst: This mode will allow you to continuously record, making it ideal for instances where you need a fast frame rate in order to capture the best moment.
● Pre-Burst: This mode is ideal for times when you're unsure of the critical moment to press the shutter button and will record images one second prior to and one second after pressing the shutter button in order to give you 60 frames to choose from.
● Burst (S/S): This mode most closely follows the video recording process, and allows you to playback your video, pause at the chosen moment, and use the shutter button to mark a chosen frame from the video and save it as a single 8 or 18MP frame.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
Bluetooth Low Energy (4.2) provides constant connection between your smartphone or table and the camera with minimal power consumption. For more robust wireless activities, IEEE 802.11ac and b/g/n support is also available for faster transmission and more fluid remote control and monitoring.

Complementing the camera's wireless connectivity, Lumix Sync is an iOS and Android app designed to pair with the camera for smartphone or tablet-based remote shooting control and wireless image transferring.
Other Camera Features
● By using sensor-shift stabilization technology, the S5 features a High Resolution mode to capture and compile eight separate exposure to create a single 96MP raw or JPEG file. Suitable for static subjects and when working on a tripod, this mode creates a more highly detailed and color accurate image than a single shot alone can produce and produces an image with a 12000 x 8000-pixel resolution.
● HLG Photo mode offers increased dynamic range for improved detail in shadow and highlight regions of the image. When working in HLG Photo mode, images can be saved as an HSP file in either 4K or full resolution, in addition to JPEG and raw formats, for vivid playback on 4K televisions.

I bought this camera for a very special wedding occasion in Kefalonia Greece so as to get as best I could to professional photos' as I am no photographer in short it was great, the photos', video's, the zoom function was fantastic, since that special time the camera was put away and has never been used since as I tend to stick with my compact, I would say that this camera has only taken some 300 shots since I bought it, the camera was first purchased from Curry’s in the UK on Sept 2018. The camera has been inspected and tested for function and works fine, therefore the camera is and remains in exceptional condition. It is now time to sell it on to someone more professional than I who can use it for what it was designed for, 7000thb or nearest offer. If you wish to read the speck of this camera it is well documented on the internet and is impressive reading.

Introduction Together with the D-Lux cameras the V-Lux bridge cameras represent Leica’s partnership with Panasonic. The previous model in the range was the V-Lux 4; this was a fantastic 12mp camera with a 25-600 optical zoom lens with a constant f2.8 throughout the full range. With Leica’s new naming method the new camera is just called the V-Lux . . . . with the (Typ 114) identifier. On paper the variable maximum aperture (f2.8 - f4) and the shorter zoom range (25-400) of the new V-Lux camera sounds less impressive. However,  the new camera has a 1” 20mp sensor which has 4 times the area of the old sensor: V-Lux 4 1/2.33” sensor: 6.08mm x 4.56mm V-Lux (Typ 114) 1” sensor: 13.2mm   x 8.8mm This larger sensor not only gives improved resolution and better low light performance, but also a larger effective aperture than that of the V-Lux 4. In addition, the new camera is the first bridge camera to offer 4k video. The sensor itself seems to be the same one used in a batch of successful recent cameras including the Sony RX100III, the Sony RX10 and probably the Canon Gx7. The New V-Lux is a complex camera and fully featured camera, and it’s outside the scope of this report to describe the details in full. However, in addition to the Leica documentation there is an excellent and detailed review of it’s sister camera at Dpreview: The Panasonic FZ100. It’s well worth a read. I’ve been putting the new V-Lux through it’s paces since early in August, including a 2 week trip to Crete (where this article is being written).  In this case I haven’t so much been testing this camera (it arrived in it’s final version) but it’s worth pointing out that, as a tester for Leica, my allegiance is to Leica, and if I find things wrong with the camera, then my duty is to tell Leica about it rather than the world in general. On the other hand, Leica have never had any influence over what I write, and I wouldn’t dream of saying anything that I don’t consider to be absolutely true, or to leave out anything I consider to be a show-stopper The Body Leica has once again employed Audi Design to work on the new V-Lux, so that it has a distinctive Leica look and feel (as well as the traditional red dot). The camera is fairly big - an inevitable result of the the long zoom range, fast lens and the relatively large sensor. On the other hand, despite feeling pretty solid, it is also very light. This means that it is perfectly okay to carry around all day without stress or strain; on several long hot walks in Crete I carried the camera in one hand all day long. I put the camera through a pretty punishing time - high temperatures and a dusty environment. It performed really well throughout. There is a flip out LCD screen which turns in all directions; excellent if you want to use a tripod, it even turns right around so that you can do selfies! The LCD can also be turned back on itself (facing into the body) for protection. The LCD is a 921,000 dot display, whereas the excellent EVF is a 2.4 million dot unit with eye-sensor startup. You can easily turn the LCD off if you are only shooting with the EVF (and vice versa). The sensor based image stabilisation is very effective. I managed to hand hold 400mm at 1/25th on a number of occasions, of course, this doesn’t help with moving subjects, but it means that you don’t need a tripod for the longer focal lengths (tripods don’t help with moving subjects either!). The Lens The lens is a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit 1:2.8 - 4.0/91-146 ASPH (equivalent to 25-400 in 35mm terms). It has a metal outer case and a knurled metal ring for either manual focus or for zooming. There is also a zoom control around the shutter release button (I found this to be faster and more convenient). The lens extends quite a long way when zooming, and the inner cylinder is made of plastic rather than metal. However, it all feels pretty solid. The lens comes with a petal type lens hood which reverses onto the lens for storage.  It’s a fantastic lens, sharp throughout the range and with no obvious weak spots. Ergonomics and Operation As is common with most similar cameras, the controls of the V-Lux are many and configurable. There are 4 configurable function buttons, but almost anything else can be configured within the complex menu system. These controls are thoroughly described elsewhere with respect to the Panasonic FZ1000, and it seems unnecessary to go through them in great detail here. Suffice to say, if you want to do something there will almost certainly be a way of doing it! In actual use the camera is great fun. The autofocus is lightning fast, the tracking seems reliable and quick (not something that can be said of many similar cameras and usually the preserve of large DSLR cameras many times the size and price). The EVF works really well, giving clear information with high resolution; you quickly forget that you are not looking through an optical viewfinder. The shutter noise is virtually silent - if you turn off the camera’s shutter release noise then it simply makes a very slight ‘pop’, excellent for stealthy shooting. Conclusion The bridge camera has always been an enticing proposition but, for me at least, the tiny sensors they have previously employed have always been the spoiler. The wonderful 1” sensor in the V-Lux really does seem to be a game changer (just as it has been in the new Sony cameras). Historically speaking the Leica versions of Panasonic cameras have been a great deal more expensive. However, this seems to be changing. As I write, the Leica V-Lux is selling in the UK for £925 with a 3 year Leica warranty and a copy of Adobe Lightroom V5, whereas the Panasonic FZ1000 is £749. The extra warranty, the Audi design and the copy of Lightroom all combine to make the V-lux rather good value for money. Historically speaking the Leica versions also hold their value much better than the Panasonic counterparts. For many people the V-Lux might be every camera you need. Good for Video and Stills. Good for Macro or Sports, Good for Landscape and Portrait. The fast lens and long focal length makes it quite possible to isolate the subject. The RAW file options makes much post processing feasible and the 20mp is good for really large prints

Powered by camera body. No external power source required. LED indicator shows operation mode, OIS (optical image stabilization) activity and communication status. Efficient switched-mode power supply. Supports image stabilization (IS) lenses. Supports electronic manual focusing (e.g. EF 85/1.2L II and discontinued EF 50/1.0L) EXIF support (focal length, aperture, lens name) Distance and zoom display on VG and FS series camcorders, A9, A7 series, A6500 and A6300 (lens with distance information support required). Auto magnify (lens with distance information support required) Auto APS-C Size Capture on full-frame cameras with Canon EF-S lenses and many third-party DX lenses. Optical/mechanical Felt material flocked inside the opening to reduce internal reflection. Fits both EF and EF-S lenses. (Vignetting at corners may occur with certain EF-S lenses because they are designed to cover a 1.6x crop image circle but Sony APS-C has a 1.5x crop factor.) Autofocus AF-C is supported on A9, A9II, A7RIV, A7RIII, III, A7III, A7RII, A7II, A6600, A6500, A6400, A6300 and A6100 only. Continuous video AF is functional in Advanced mode only but performance may be unsatisfactory. On Sony A9, only phase-detection autofocus is supported. Contrast-detection autofocus may not work satisfactorily. See firmware release notes for details. AF may not work if the maximum aperture of the lens plus any EF Extender or other teleconverter attached is smaller than f/8. The first few autofocus attempts are used to calibrate the lens and as a result may not lock successfully on the target. Half-press the shutter release button again and autofocus will lock successfully. Autofocus may have difficulty locking onto subjects which are very close to the nearest focusing distance of the lens. Sony E-mount 1.4x TC (model SEL14TC) will fit and work but AF performance may be unsatisfactory and there may be significant vignetting with some telephoto lenses. Autofocus accuracy depends heavily on the design and working condition of the lens. Lenses with hidden problems which may not be apparent on Canon DSLRs will lead to inaccurate and unreliable autofocus on Sony. Typical problems of this kind that we have seen include an unsmooth/erratic autofocus mechanism (e.g. getting stuck intermittently at a certain focusing distance), a faulty/worn-out distance encoder or other faulty/worn-out internal sensors. Other No support for lens corrections such as peripheral shading, CA and distortion. Use of Canon Compact-Servo Cinema lenses such as CN-E 18-80mm T4.4 for still photography is not supported. (Functional, but slower than lenses designed for still photography.) Some EF-mount lenses may make audible noises during iris changes and autofocus, which may be picked up by the built-in microphone of the camera during video recording. Use of an external microphone is advised. Some of the recently-introduced Canon-brand lenses are very quiet, however. Early Tamron VC lenses such as the AF 28-300/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC LD Aspherical [IF] Macro (model A20), AF 18-270/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical [IF] MACRO (model B003), SP AF 17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II VC LD Aspherical [IF] (model B005) may not be able to freely switch between OIS and IBIS because they may not report IS activity status. Later Tamron VC lenses equipped with USD or PZD focus motors are fine. Some aftermarket battery grips may cause the aperture to change erroneously. This is a bug in the aftermarket battery grip but NOT arising from the Metabones Smart Adapter. Turn off the aftermarket battery grip or use a genuine Sony battery grip.
