This thangka purchased in Lhasa, Tibet nearly 20 years ago depitcs the founder of the RED HAT sect of Tibetan Buddhism. The work is completely hand-done and has the image on both sides. When I purchased the thangka neither the sellers nor I knew just how rare it is, but once I got it back to my gallery in the USA and researched it I was pleased to find out that that the craftsman who made it had worked on it nearly 200 years ago. It is a fine example not only of the craft of thangka making but it is a rare image as well. Thangkas on silk are extremely rare and should be cherished and cared for.
